How do I make an appointment? If you'd like to schedule an appointment with me, please email me at maria@livewellpracticeny.com or just click any of the "Schedule a Consultation" buttons, fill out the form with your first name, last name, and email, and I'll follow up with you shortly.
-
Do you take insurance?I am Out of Network at this time because unfortunately, insurance pays their in-network therapists really poorly so it has become unsustainable for most therapy practices, including my practice to be in-network. If you are interested in using your insurance for reimbursement purposes, please include a photo front and back of the card and your complete date of birth. We will discuss your benefits during our free consultation.
-
What types of payments do you take?I use IVY Pay to charge clients. The forms of payments accepted are credit cards, HSA, FSA, Debit cards.
-
Do I have to do weekly sessions or can I start slow and do Biweekly?Studies demonstrate that therapy is mostly effective when you see your therapist weekly. Biweekly sessions do not offer the same benefits and I do not want to waste your money or time. I offer biweekly sessions once rapport is established and we both decide this is going to allow us to continue working towards your goals.
-
Can we work together?I have professional Licenses for the states of New York, Florida and Minnesota.
-
How long will it take for me to feel healthy and better? This is a question that does not have a definite answer. Everyone is a unique case and so the length and time of counseling can differ from person to person. Your commitment to our work will help us determine a course of action that leads to proper treatment and achievable goals.
-
I don't know if I really need therapy, maybe I am exaggerating? It is important to be honest with yourself about what your needs are. We are humans and we all need help at some point in our lives. I want to create a space for you to recognize that asking for help is natural and in this way help reduce some of that pressure that is making you question if you need help or not.
-
Maybe I just need to talk to a friend or family member , why should I talk with you about my problems? There is a great difference between talking with a licensed counselor and family member/ friend. A mental health professional can help create insight and educate about personal skills, new ways of thinking, as well as how to listen to your needs from a non judgemental and objective view. When we talk with friend or family members we often worry about what they are going to think about us, with a counselor this is not present and therefore you are able to be completely honest and therefore find out what is really motivating you behave or think in a particular way.
-
I am already taking medication or considering taking medication, maybe thats enough?Medication and counseling go hand by hand. Medication can be helpful at helping create an opening to speaking about personal worries and concerns that otherwise would feel too overwhelming. Counseling helps explore those worries and concerns by expanding your insight and helping create further knowledge on how to achieve your goals.
-
What languages do you speak?I speak fluent English and Spanish. I also speak conversational Italian.

Are you a Telehealth Provider?Yes , I only provide video sessions. Based on feedback from current clients they explained they prefer it as it has given them further opportunities to create further insight before and after sessions since the elemeber of commuting can be distracting after a session.
